From
the hand hewed corners to the sassafras staircases, each of our log cabins
has its own distinct layout. Of course the cabins wouldn't be complete without
their brown county stone fireplaces, antler chandeliers, rustic pine furniture,
and western prints and photographs.
All hardwood floors and products are from on site. Antler lights and chandeliers throughout are built with naturally shed antlers. The cabins are well landscaped and maintained for year round enjoyment, and seasonally decorated for your home away from home.
Some of the furnishings for the log cabins came from local shops in Nashville, Indiana. Antlers, furnishings, and most decorations for our log cabins were brought back from our excursions westward, ranging from Montana and down towards New Mexico.
All but one of our log cabins are built from poplar logs we've
cut locally, and were built between 2002 and 2005. The size of the logs range
between 28 feet long, eight inches thick, up to 24 inches tall and weighing
more than one ton each.
We take care in placing each cabin for maximum enjoyment combining privacy with a soothing natural view. Close enough to drive into town but far enough away to escape, we think you'll find Antler Log Cabins the perfect place for your next vacation.

When you step through one of our cabin doors you can feel the history come alive when your eyes wander over the log cabin, noticing the craftmanship and authenticity learned from many generations ago. In fact, the 114 wooded acre estate has been in our family for over seven generations, and the original homestead was settled in 1834.
Previously, part of the
land was used as a maple sugar camp. During harvesting season, buckets
of sap would be collected and then cooked down to syrup over an open fire.
Also during this time they would use the old wooden fence posts for the fire
and build new ones before spring. The land has also been used to grow crops
and raise livestock.
Today, the 114 acres consists of five lakes and ponds, ranging from one to four acres and up to 23 feet deep. There are 22 acres of meadows and fields, and 90 acres of untouched, mature natural forestry which consists of fern laden gullies, natural springs, and towering varieties of poplar, hickory, oak, aspen and beech. That's probably why wildlife frequents the property. The deer, turkey, and other creatures have right of way on all paths and drives so you might have to wait for them to cross the road once in awhile.
W e hope that you will enjoy your stay in our log cabins so you can create your own history, and enjoy our log cabins for generations to come.
As a family owned organization, we strive to be a full service lodging establishment that can provide you with all the ammenities necessary to ensure a great vacation.
In other words, we want you to be happy campers.
Sincerely,
Greg, Mary, and Bridgette Chitwood
